Top 3 Email lists, Blogs, and Podcasts of the day

Top 3 Internet marketing, website posts 13th March 2014Today (13th March 2014) I have a great blog post for you about email lists and why they are so important to your website and business. Also, if you don’t have a blog I have an article about why you really should. Finally, I have a great podcast episode about setting up a blog and ultimately making it into a successful business. Trust me, it’s a fantastic listen.

Note, I have no affiliation with these websites, I simply like what they say and thought you may like them too.

How to get your first 100 email subscribers – by OkDork

If you’re interested in starting your own website you will probably want people to visit it and maybe even engage with it (i.e. comments, contacts, buying things etc.). If you are starting/running a website then one bit of advice that nearly every successful website owner offers is “start collecting visitor emails as soon as possible”. The simple fact is once you have an email address you can reach out and contact this person whenever you like (within reason and of course only with things related to your website). If you have new products, a new blog post, or you even just want to know their opinion on something, you can just simply ask.

A recent post by Bryan Harris on Okdork gets into more depth about this and other related things, and you should definitely check this post out if you have a website.

5 Reasons Why Your WordPress Business Should Have a Blog by WPMUDEV

I’ve mentioned this before, but Google loves fresh good quality content, so having a blog on your website can be a really good thing. Yes, it takes a bit of work, but it allows you to express yourself and communicate with you website visitors and customers. A post by Raelene Wilson on WPMUDEV talks in more details about why your WordPress business should have a blog. There’s some really interesting stuff here so check it out.

How to succeed in the competitive fitness industry – with Steve Kamb – by MIXERGY

I listen to a lot of podcasts, I think they are great and none more so than MIXERGY. I just finished listening to this particular podcast and it really resonated with me. If you are a blogger and want to run a blog about something you love then this is the podcast episode for you. Steve Kamb started his blog about fitness, he didn’t worry about design, social media, email lists etc. etc. that can bog us all down, he didn’t even worry about starting a blog in a hugely competitive area with multi-million pound (or dollar if this is a better currency for you) companies occupying much of the search results.

Listen how he started the blog in his spare time, spent a long time getting people to read it, how it evolved, and ultimately how he gave up his full time job and turned his WordPress blog into a hugely successful business. Get inspired while walking, working out, or even cooking by listening to this podcast episode as you go about your daily activities.

You may be greeted by a sign-up form when you follow the above link, but simply close the browser window down and re-visit the website and you won’t see the pop-up form again. You don’t need to sign-up to listen to this podcast, but hurry because eventually you may.

Summary

I hope you liked these Top 3 articles (one was a podcast I know) about email lists and blogging. There will be more tomorrow so remember to sign up to my email list to get updates.

If you have an opinion about the articles or podcast I’d love to hear about them in the comments below.

Cheers, Neil.
