The SPI blog is a very popular internet marketing blog, but we are focusing on the logo here in this GIMP tutorial. The logo itself is relatively simple but very recognisable and provides a good branding to the SPI blog and also dictates the colours that will define the promotion and marketing of the SPI brand over all other outreach platforms (e.g. social media etc.).
Visit the SPI blog and see the logo for yourself here.
Throughout this GIMP logo tutorial you will see some nice techniques that you can use on your own logo designs, but remember you should never copy someone else’s work directly, so please do not copy this logo to use on your own site(s). Of course have a go at recreating it for the purposes of practice and to improve your graphic design skills.
Below there is a super speeded up video (x20 speed) so you can quickly see the end result, and also a real speed video with audio. The original speed video is pretty long, but it goes over the complete creation of this logo from start to finish.
It’s really cool how you have done a full video and the speed one. I’ve never actually used GIMP I’ve always been a Photoshop guy. Recently I gave Pixlr a try. I think after seeing this I will have a look at GIMP next time I need to do some photo editing.
