Make your own website 101 – from nothing to a live website in the blink of an eye
If you have always wanted to have your own website but do not want to pay someone to set it all up for you, then this is the guide for you. The video starts at the very beginning, no domain name and no web hosting. I explain what each of these is and then walk through the registration of a website name (i.e. domain name), then I set up web hosting and get a brand new website live on the internet. Finally I install WordPress, which is the most popular platform to make website on, and set up 2 new posts and an about me page.
This tutorial won’t get you a completed website ready to show people, but it will show you how to get started with a live website, and then you can go a head and start playing around and making it look like you want it.
Domain name registration and web hostings
In this video I use the web host Dreamhost to register my new domain and then host it. I use Dreamhost for a few of my websites and if you register with them you can get a FREE domain name and a 2 week FREE trial of their shared hosting. The shared hosting is only $8 or $9 a month after this. Finally, Dreamhost have an industry record 97 day money back offer so if for whatever reason you want to cancel your web hosting account you can do and get a full refund.
