Genesis setup and adding the background image to the website

By Neil on January 13, 2014

Genesis set up and adding the background image to the website

Prerequisites

Genesis Framework and Child Theme.

The video below shows you quickly how to install the Genesis Framework and the Metro Pro child theme, and then to add a background image to the website.

Installing and setting up the Genesis Framework and child theme

StudioPress Premium WordPress Themes

Setting up the Genesis Framework and then adding a background image to your chosen child theme is very straight forward. The Framework and child themes are set up through the WordPress dashboard (Appearance/Themes), and I downloaded zipped folders of the Genesis Framework and the Metro Pro child theme directly from the Studiopress website and uploaded them using Add New and then Upload before navigation to where these zipped folders were on my computer. First you upload the Genesis Frameword and then you upload the Metro Pro Genesis child theme. After the child theme has installed you should activate it.

Adding a background image

In the WordPress dashboard under the Appearance tab on the left-hand column you will see the Background option. Select this and then upload the image you want as your background. Click Choose File and then find your image. Click here to see how I edited the image I used here. When you have selected you image click Upload. I chose Position: Left, Repeat: No Repeat, Attachment: Scroll and then saved changes.

Summary

I highly recommend the Genesis Framework and child themes and I use them on all of my websites, including this one. They are super easy to use, professional, and optimised for high performance. They also make tasks such as adding background images simple, as shown here. Check out more about Genesis here.
