OK, the weather is starting to turn (for the better) and that means that people are starting to think about BBQs again. This is of course good news for my BBQ website.
It has been a while, so to remind you I built www.barbequesuk.com as a case study for the Earn1000.co.uk Course, which walks through every single step to create this BBQ website.
Amazon Affiliate Website Started in 2015
I started this BBQ website back in March 2015, so it has been 2 years now. All I have done is add content to the website, I have not done anything clever or particularly complicated. I have not tried to get back links to the website (something that experts say you must do but it takes a lot of hard work). I like to keep things simple.
To repeat all I have done is setup the website correctly to attract visitors from Google and then to flow them through to Amazon to buy things (i.e. BBQs). When people buy from Amazon I get paid a % of the sale (normally around 7% for my BBQ sales).
While I started the BBQ website in March 2015 I did not complete it (to the standards I teach in the Earn1000 Course) until February 2016. This is because I have lots of other projects I am working on and I took my eye off this BBQ website.
However, this being said the website had still generated over £100 in commissions by February 2016 even though the website was not 100% complete.
Website made £100 in a single month
In March 2016 (1 year after I first started the website) it made over £100 in a single month, which was the primary goal of starting the website. £100 a month equals £1200 per year, hence the title of the website Earn1000. An extra £1000 per year is great, that’s a nice holiday 🙂
Website made £1000 in a single month
In May 2016 the BBQ website made over £1000 in a single month. This was way more than I expected or planned for, but all the same it was AMAZING!!!
March 2017 – How Are Commissions Looking?
Anyway, back the the present day, March 2017. Sales dropped in the winter months as you’d expect because people generally do not want BBQs in the winter in the UK. But in March the number of visitors to the website started to pick up and so did the sales.
The image below is a screenshot of my Google Analyics for the BBQ website. See the number of visitors picking up again in March 2017. In March the website got at total of 3,518 unique visitors and 8,281 page views. Note that the site was down from 3rd to 14th March because my domain name had expired (oops, I forgot to renew it…). So the results are even more impressive seen as I missed a sizable chunk of the month 🙁
So, for the whole of March 2017 www.barbequesuk.com accumulated 97 orders on Amazon.co.uk. 88 of these orders were processed and commissions were paid on these (I’ll get the rest of the commissions in April). These 87 earning sales generated £277.01.
£277 is a great start to what will hopefully be a few months of higher sales for this BBQ website.
What have I done to the affiliate website?
Since I completed this BBQ website to the standards of the Earn1000 Course I have added a few more keyword researched articles and also a larger general BBQ article. But that is it. I have still done ZERO back linking or outreach promotion etc. So this means that anyone could do the same for their website, which is exactly what I teach in the Earn1000 Course.
How to go from complete novice that knows nothing about making website or making money from website to having a live website on the internet primed ready to make money – Earn1000.co.uk
It is not a quick fix. Things can take months to start earning money, just like my BBQ website did. But once they get traction they continue to make money with very little work.
Read this post where I lay out the exact timescale and steps until my BBQ website made £1000 in a single month.
The plot below shows total commissions made since I started this website.
In total the BBQ website has made £4111.81, which for a website that anyone can replicate is pretty awesome. Here’s a month by month breakdown of commissions earned since I first registered the domain name barbequesuk.com back in March 2015.

OK, there you go. It has been a while since I updated on the progress of this BBQ website, but as you can see it is still doing well for me.
